2011 Ram 6.7L Cummins diesel suffering from coolant loss and an overheating engine. We diagnosed the problem as a blown head gasket leak, provided the customer with repair options that would prevent the problem from happening again, and a detailed head gasket replacement cost estimate.
Problem: loss of coolant and engine overheating.
Diagnosis: Performed a cooling system pressure test and a combustion chamber leak test to determine that the cylinder head gasket was leaking.
Repair: Removed the cylinder head and sent it to the machine shop for a pressure test and cylinder-head resurfacing. Installed the cylinder head using all new gaskets and upgraded to cylinder-head studs instead of the weak factory bolts.
