Brake pulsations due to warped front brake rotors or variations in the thickness of the rotors. Wheel bearing hub runout can also cause brake pulsation.
Repair: wheel hub runout should be checked and hub replaced if not within specification. Brake rotor thickness variations, or rotor runout, can be reduced be machining or replacing the brake rotors.

Problem: Jeep Cherokee Front and Rear Differential Pinion Seal Leak and Transfer Case Leak

Jeep front or rear differential pinion seal leak and Jeep transfer case leak are common.
Repair: Transfer case leakage normally occurs at the case-mating surfaces and requires removal of the transfer case to reseal. Jeep differential pinion seal leak requires Jeep pinion seal replacement.

Problem: Jeep Cherokee Problem shifting into reverse on AX-15 manual transmission

Due to design of the reverse gear system in the AX-15 manual transmission it may block shifting into reverse.
Repair: An updated reverse gear is available. Transmission must be removed from vehicle and repaired.

Problem: Jeep Cherokee transmission noise when in reverse

A loud buzzing or whining noise when transmission is in reverse. May be caused by a regulator valve in the transmission valve body.
Repair: A revised regulator valve that does not resonate is available. Careful diagnosis should be performed because other causes can create the noise.

Problem: Jeep Cherokee engine performance problems due to poor ECU wire connections

Poor connections of the ECU wires at the bulkhead can cause erratic RPMs and engine-stalling.
Repair: bypass the affected connector wires or cleaning and replacing spread terminals in the connector.

Some models are susceptible to rear main oil seal failures in dirty or dusty conditions. As dirt and dust collect on the oil seal, the abrasion wears through the sealing surface.
Repair: Rear main seal replacement. Install new rubber plug above the starter to prevent dust entry near the seal and extends the life of the seal.
